Chief Executive Officer & President @ Seattle Humane
David Loewe joined Seattle Humane in November 2006 and has held the role of CEO/President since 2010. In the event of emergencies, David also leads our Disaster Response and Recovery Program. Since joining Seattle Humane, David has led the agencies life-saving mission by increasing the Live Release Rate (LRR) from 78% to 99%, increased placement from 3,800 annually to 7,000+, increased transfers from 500 annually to 4,500+ and successfully completed a $30Million campus replacement project that opened to the public in the fall of 2017.
Prior to Seattle Humane, David spent many years in management of operations and engineering roles in commercial nuclear power with Wolf Creek Nuclear, high speed European passenger rail with Talgo-America and GPS-Data collection systems with Connected NW-Nextel. With Bachelor of Science degrees in both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, the same inquisitive nature and questioning attitude has been brought to Seattle Humane's life-saving work.
As a self-proclaimed '"Cat Guy," David has had both dogs and cats in his life - including "Tucker" who can be seen on the side of our Chelsea Rescue Rider.
David's vision and passion for our agency has shown with the completion of our new shelter campus. David recently said "I am so proud of our new facility and the impact it will have on animal welfare - both locally and regionally."
